Starter Tutorials

Each tutorial points to the official, maintained documentation for the detailed steps. Use a testnet: no real ada needed.

Tutorial A: Hello Cardano

Beginner

  1. Install a wallet from its official site and switch it to the Preprod testnet.
  2. Request test ada from the official faucet.
  3. Send a small amount of test ada to a second address and look the transaction up in a testnet explorer.
  4. Read the eUTxO explainer and identify the inputs, outputs and fee of your transaction.

Tutorial B: a simple dApp with Mesh

Beginner

  1. Follow the Mesh guides to create a starter project.
  2. Use Mesh's wallet connection (CIP-30) to read the connected wallet's balance on Preprod.
  3. Build, sign and submit a transaction that sends test ada.
  4. Handle errors and show the transaction hash to the user.

Tutorial C: mint a native token or NFT

Intermediate

  1. Understand that Cardano native tokens are handled by the ledger itself: transfers need no smart contract. Minting is controlled by a minting policy (which can be a simple signature/time-lock script).
  2. Follow the Developer Portal's minting guide on Preprod.
  3. Add CIP-25 style metadata if you are minting an NFT, following the NFT guide.

Tutorial D: understand eUTxO (interactive)

Beginner

  1. Use the small virtual simulation below to pick inputs and create outputs.
  2. See why change goes back to you and why a fee is needed.
  3. For a fuller simulator, see UTXO Playground (an AACC sibling project, coming soon).

Your wallet holds these UTxOs. Tick inputs, enter an amount to send, and see the outputs. Fee is a fixed illustrative 0.2 ada.
