Coalition Structure

How the Asia-Africa Cardano Coalition is organised.

Governance Structure

1. Coalition Assembly

  • Open to all Cardano community members from Asia and Africa.
  • Monthly online town halls to encourage participation, address local needs, gather feedback, promote dialogue, networking, education, and participation.

2. Operational Council

  • Composed of 14 members (7 from Asia, 7 from Africa), ensuring equitable continental representation.
  • Members serve 1-year terms, with the seats rotating annually to ensure continuity and fresh perspectives.
  • Chair & Vice Chair rotates annually between continents with consensus.

3. Strategic Advisory Council

  • Permanent non-voting body of 5 respected community members.
  • Provides consistent guidance, historical perspective, and stability.
  • Advisors serve indefinite terms but can step down voluntarily.

4. Activation Circles

Formed by the Assembly and the Strategic Council to address specific focus areas:

Education & Outreach

Ensures materials are accessible (in multiple local languages) and simplified.

Technical Support & Mentorship

Provides a safe space and practical guidance for newcomers.

Representation & Governance

Focuses on presenting collective regional viewpoints to the broader Cardano governance.

Operational Principles

Decision-making

  • Operates on consensus-building principles: decisions taken ideally by consensus through open discussions but require at least 65% majority vote from the Strategic Council if consensus is unreachable.
  • For significant decisions, online polls or sentiment checks conducted transparently and inclusively.

Rotation & Succession

  • Transparent nominations and open elections by consensus via the Assembly.
  • Encourages rotation of roles to promote broader experience and prevent centralization.
